One of my erstwhile colleagues in Labour has had to resign from the Cabinet after the Solicitors Regulatory Authority closed his firm. Now they say "This person is allowed to practise as a solicitor, but 'conditions apply' means we restrict what they can do".Never fear: his wife (also I think chair of the council Labour group and of the constituency Labour party in Feltham and Heston) has been appointed as chair of planning, which should make up for the loss of Cabinet SpecialAllowance.
Her predecessor as chair of planning has been appointed to Cabinet, where his wife already serves, so his loss of planning Special Allowance is replaced. So nice to see how loyal councillors are rewarded.
Meanwhile, I heard that another of our Labour Solicitor councillors has just been fined £40,000 for employing an illegal immigrant as a nanny and paying her less than the minimum wage. Of course what I heard may be inaccurate. If true, it is especially surprising, as in her Solicitor business I have heard she specialises in helping people with immigration matters. Sadly, the Leader knew nothing about this, just like Donald Trump with the late Mr Epstein. Of course, I believe Hina told us she knew nothing about what her (then and perhaps still?) husband was up to before he was sent down for a 12 year stretch for fraud. There seems to be a lot of it about and the vaccinations don't seem to work.
In another piece of news, one of our youngest councillors who happens to be the son of an important official of the local mosque has no job or income other than his allowance. He does help in his family business but derives no income – he apparently does it out of the generosity of his heart. Last seen addressing developers in Pakistan, urging them to invest in the UK, I hear. How noble. Equally nobly, he is a councillor apparently to be a role model for young people. He has stepped down from his role as chair of Licensing after he was spotted parking his £200K Lamborghini SUV in a disabled parking space, and will be even poorer now he is without the Special Allowance that he used to derive from that role.
I am crying uncontrollably and I am so distraught about having been expelled from the Labour party for suggesting they should act a bit quicker using 5 council houses and 92 flats built locally. I wanted them being allocated to tenants after several months of remaining empty after they had been finished much earlier. The Cabinet member explained that he couldn’t allocate some of these until he and officers sorted out how to allocate service charges. It’s very arduous being Deputy Leader. Of course, as a primary school teacher he is well experienced at dealing with naughty children like me. Fortunately the rest of the Labour group children are nearly all well-behaved and do what the teacher and his Teaching Assistant the Chief Whip tells them.
My heart was warmed when they told me I was not expelled from the Labour Party forever: I could apply to rejoin by writing to the National Executive Committee. But not until 5 years had elapsed. So merciful.
Now I am Green. Not for envy of those who remain in the Labour Party. In fact when I think of how the Labour party is run locally my greenness reflects how sick I feel when I see how the children who remain in the class, many of them truly good people. I hope they don't develop Green Finger from false gold like Adam Faith's girlfriend that I remember my big sister listened to when I was little
